Chiu's design for Sunlight Sprinkles stands out due to its elegant and smooth curved elements, delicate metal accents, and attention to detail. The project showcases the ultimate pursuit of comfort and quality of life, reinterpreting the concept of home. The design process involved incorporating convenient and heartwarming touches, such as hidden pipes and a layout that allows natural light to flow through the entire public area. When sunlight falls on the textured accessories and ornaments, it adds an extra touch of elegance to the space.
The realization of the Sunlight Sprinkles design involved thoughtful planning of the public area, which serves as both a residential space and a private club. The area has been tailored to the preferences of the male and female clients, offering a meeting room for the female client to chat and a cozy living room for the male client. The design team has added numerous functionalities, such as a small sideboard in the meeting area that doubles as storage space and a mini-bar in the center island equipped with a small wine cooler. The stackable leather chairs imported from Denmark add a touch of sophistication. The open plan of the public area allows guests to move freely, fostering a sense of freedom and relaxation.
The Sunlight Sprinkles project encompasses a new house on the sixth floor, with a documented area of 350.6 square meters and an actual area of 182.4 square meters. It features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a meeting area, showcasing the functional space of both a residence and a meeting place. The design team has carefully selected materials such as thin bricks, wood, and metal to create a harmonious blend of textures. The meeting area and dressing table for the female client boast shining elements, including Hermes crystal lamps and round mirrors with touch lights. The center island serves as a banquet area, while the imported Danish leather chairs add a touch of luxury.
Creating a light and airy atmosphere was a key challenge for the design team. To achieve this, they focused on hiding wires and ensuring a seamless visual experience. Metal cladding was used to extend along the window frame to the ceiling, concealing the wires inside the aluminum window frame. The wall behind the sofa features a press-on design for easy maintenance of the B&O wall-mounted audio system. Additionally, a cabinet is cleverly integrated between the walls, and the sliding door is designed with a concave and convex shape to eliminate any sense of abruptness.
The Sunlight Sprinkles design is a testament to the meticulous attention to detail and the pursuit of beauty. The B&B Tobi-Ishi table in the meeting area serves as the starting point for the design, with its classic oval shape and calming presence. The design team extended the sense of roundness throughout the entire space, carefully configuring the color scheme to create a smooth visual effect. By changing the layout of the public area, natural light is able to travel freely, creating a sense of openness and tranquility.
The Sunlight Sprinkles project was completed in January 2021 in Taipei. It is a true reflection of the designer's research and dedication to creating a space that resembles living in a cloud. The use of white and rounded elements, soft curtains, and thin tiles creates a light and floating sense of air. The curved edges of the ceiling and the arc-shaped lighting enhance the atmosphere, while the meeting area and the high-quality audio equipment in the living room cater to the specific preferences of the clients.
The Sunlight Sprinkles design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award is a testament to the well-designed, practical, and innovative nature of the project. It showcases the integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings, ultimately contributing to a better world.
